My sister needs to find an English speaking marriage guidance counsellor in Amsterdam - does anyone know how to go about this?

not off hand but I shall send some emails see if I can find out, hope we can help

Has she got a GP there? He or she should be able to help. There's the RIAGG (roughly translates as Regional Institute for Mental Health) in most towns, which has all kinds of psychologists and psychotherapists available.

Anna8888 · 13/11/2007 09:21

Thank you.

dutchmam - yes, she has a GP and I'll suggest to her that she asks her and also look into RIAGG.

kjaysmum - thanks, any info or leads would be lovely.

Your sister could try contacting this organisation:

ACCESS

(The Hague)
Plein 24
2511 CS The Hague
The Netherlands
Tel: 070 3462525
Fax: 070 3561332

(Amsterdam)
Herengracht 472 3rd floor
1017 CA Amsterdam
The Netherlands
Tel: 020 4233217

Email: [email protected]
Website: www.access-nl.org

They are not a counselling organisation per se I believe, but they have a huge database of different counsellors etc whom they can recommend.

Anna8888 · 15/11/2007 17:38

annh - that is very kind, I will pass all that info on

Hi Anna,

there is a great website for info for expats living in Benelux.
ww.expatica.nl

I found a lot of usefull info on there when I was living in Amsterdam. I believe there is a section about medical practitioners/counselling etc....

I hope your sister is doing better. I live in Amsterdam too and have been searching for a relate equivilant for a while with no luck.
Can confirm that Access has relationship councillors but your have to pay (80-120 Euros per hour)
Is your sister on mumsnet?

Anna8888 · 20/11/2007 15:02

No my sister isn't on Mumsnet. Are you looking for friends in Amsterdam?
