DH more than likely has a job there if he wants it (as a contractor, duration unknown, but prob a couple of years).

He's 42 and works in IT, which we assume have some bearing?!

Not a clue but Australia?!!?

I hate to tell you this, but Memphis is NOT in Australia....

Official info is here but there are lots of commercial companies that specialise in helping people get Aus visas.

Thanks for the link Bluestocking.

Unfortunately I'm still bewildered, as dh wouldn't actually be an employee of the company he'd be working for, and I can't find anything about being sponsored by a company without actually being an employee. I sense this might prove difficult!

Does anyone have direct experience of being self-employed and getting a visa?

flame, don't ask!

I think it would be up to the company to sort it out for him, wouldn't it?

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/11/2007 21:02

I'm sure that they would help, but we wanted to get some idea of whether it was likely to be possible before dh puts out feelers for the work, as we also potentially have the option of moving to Memphis, and won't know for a couple of weeks whether his current base of Dublin is also an option or not!
