Anyone planning to travel NZ (or Oz) - UK in the next year?

I've been crystal ball gazing and wondering when we might be able to go quarantine free. We're not desperate, but have a few big events in the UK we're going to miss over the next few months.
I've found some really cheap flights over the Christmas period and I'm thinking we may as well buy them, then just change them if quarantine is still a thing then.
Anyone else making plans?

I live in Australia and no way will they stop the quarantine by Christmas. It's just not going to happen. Too risky. The only reason we've escaped relatively unscathed is due to the strict control on who comes in and out.

I haven relatives in Australia we want to visit but I I truly can't see it being this year.

There's some hope with vaccine passports maybe. Bur while theres fear of new bariants and its likely the uk will need to go back into some sort of covid measures in winter its looking increasingly unlikely.

From April 9 Victoria is letting in 800 a week, which ramps up to 12-1500 a week pretty quickly but I feel that’s for work, returned residents, business people, and they’re all quarantining. I think NSW and QLD are doing all the quarantine right now.
Our vaxx programme is rolling out extremely slowly so I don’t think the borders will be open until most of the population is done.

The latest is that everyone will have had their first vaccine by end of October which given they will be AZ means not everyone will be immunised by Christmas. There will still be a huge backlog of citizens to get home. I would plan for next Christmas

It will not be quarantine free by Christmas (I mean the return to Oz/NZ).

I know some people travelling NZ-UK but for family reasons i.e. unwell relatives.

Are you sure these big events in the UK will be happening? Weddings etc might not go ahead at the planned scale.

No one I know is expecting a UK holiday in the next 2 years at least.

I'm hoping to fly to the UK on Boxing Day. I'm fully vaccinated, as is my family. Hoping this is enough, but booking flights I can move to Easter holidays if I need to.
