I'm getting a bit ahead of myself as the application hasn't even been sent yet, but my dh has seen a job that he is interested in in Geneva. I think, if we ended up taking the plunge, we would want to live in or near Lausanne as I have lot of family living there.
We have two children age 12 (y8) and 9 (y4) so uprooting them is of course a huge concern. They don't speak French; my dh and I have French to rusty A level standard. The salary looks amazing by UK standards although of course I realise living costs are huge in CH and I don't think international private schools are a realistic option.
Has anyone done this move with similar aged kids? I'm wishing the opportunity had come up 10 years ago tbh!
My other worry is about housing - we are in a 4 bed semi with a nice garden in a nice area and I have reservations about downsizing to a flat with a balcony. Although maybe if we were further out of town a small house with a garden/ flat with shared garden (to rent, obvs) would be more realistic?
I have an EU passport as well as a UK one so am assuming this might make it easier for me to look for a job.
Any advice v welcome from those of you who live in the area/ have made a similar move with older kids. Thanks!
