Dh and I are in the process of applying for residency in NZ. Our EOI has been selected from the pool and we're waiting to hear from them regarding the further information that they will ask us for. Has anyone been through the process? What else has to happen, what information do we have to provide and how long does the process take?

Hi, haven't done it from outside of New Zealand but here's the website to use. www.immigration.govt.nz best of luck

Thanks, I'll have a look.

have a look at www.britishexpats.com - it's full of all kinds of useful advice from people who have been through/are going through the same process for all countries. I've found it invaluable in our move to Oz.

hi
not sure if it'll be the same for you as it was for DH, as he applied for residency on the family scheme (I have citizenship). I imagine you'll have to fill in a load of forms and get a medical and police check, but don't know if the timescales/costs will be the same.

however, this is an NZ specific site which should tell you pretty much everything you need to know in addition to the gov.nz site

have you any idea where you're hoping to go in NZ? I

Get your police check underway as soon as poss as that takes the longest (up to 6 wks). Your local police station should have some form or something and you send it off and they check police records on the national database. Medical shouldn't take too long, can be done in an hour (did mine over here, they have places that specifically do immigration medicals, not sure if same in UK). Other than that it's just loads of forms to fill in, they look more complicated then they are. Details of family, age, qualifications, work experience, references etc.

Once they have invited you to apply, you are basically in as long as you provide all the info they need. Once they have your forms back should take maybe 3-4 months? to be approved. Maybe a bit less. You could be here for summer!
