Moving to Portugal before end of transition period

Hi

We are thinking of moving to Portugal to apply for residency there before 31 December 2020 to escape tighter restrictions and issues post Brexit. Has anyone done this and can anyone advise on the procedure? We are thinking of this rather last minute (!) is it possible to move there in say November and claim residency immediately or does one have to have the 90 days living there already? Additionally, I am a bit confused by the tax arrangements, is it possible to work remotely from UK and pay tax in both countries (or alternatively just continue paying tax in the UK)

Thanks in advance for any thoughts, much appreciated!

I think you will get more information on the Facebook group
BRITISH Expats in Portugal.

I have no knowledge of the group but there are 13,000 members.

The issue of residence has been discussed (to death) on similar groups for Spain and France which I am a member of.
Fortunately, for me, I am a permanent resident in Luxembourg and pick up my new type biometric residents card on Friday.
Yippee!

Thank you both!! @Gfplux I will check out that group on FB. I am so jealous of your Luxembourg residents card. I am a proud European and the panic is starting to set in as I feel the borders of little England closing in around me! Feels a bit crazy but might regret not doing it now if by Jan it's too late. @BlueThistles thanks for the well wishes!

I live in Portugal. The local councils will issue a temporary residence permit as soon as you arrive, if you get here after the 1st Jan if gets a lot more complicated. The British in Portugal FB page has tons of useful information.
