US candy

What would UK kids like from the US? I think most things are available in both places now so what is unusual? Particularly candy. I know chocolate is a bit shit, but what do they like for the novelty factor?

I'm thinking about hot cinnamon... but only if they like hot foods!
My kids are half American & don't care for any of the US candy they've tried that you can't get in UK, anyway.

M&Ms maybe.

ParadiseLaundry · 07/03/2020 05:03

Sour Patch Kids are amazing! Especially the watermelon ones if they still do them. Not like the crap ones we used to get in the UK that aren't even sour. Twizzlers too.

ParadiseLaundry · 07/03/2020 05:04

Ooh yes and peanut butter M&Ms. They are difficult to get here.

ParadiseLaundry · 07/03/2020 05:05

Although I should mention that I'm a 37 year old woman and not a kid Grin

ragged · 07/03/2020 05:05

Lemonheads? Better than Lemon sherberts.

Kidsareallhoppedup · 07/03/2020 05:28

paradise not judging.... 😂
Oh my, really? ragged? I just bought really expensive lemon sherbets on amazon because I thought they were better 😂
What about fluff? Or twinkies? Too horrible?

Skittles are interesting too because some of the flavours (purple and green) are different - grape and apple rather than blackcurrant and lime.

fridacakehole · 07/03/2020 05:46

Fruity's Ju-C Jello Bags (Din Don Foods) are 'tik tok famous' and are impossible to come by in the UK.

The definitely have the novelty factor right now and I don't think there is an alternative here.

ragged · 07/03/2020 05:48

Twinkies are officially horrible.
Dunno why but my kids like Hershey's kisses, and you can get all colours over there. Still just regular milk choc inside.
Sour jacks? Sour heads?

OopsUpsideYourBed · 07/03/2020 05:48

Tootsie rolls and tootsie roll pops!

ParadiseLaundry · 07/03/2020 10:32

All green sweets should be apple flavoured imo. Who even likes lime flavoured sweets ffs. As yellow ones are usually lemon you've already got that citrusy, sour zing so lime is totally unnecessary.

Leflic · 07/03/2020 23:33

If they like nuts Pecan rolls are amazing and I’ve never been able to get them here. Caramel and pecan around a marshmallow fluff inside.

I agree with the green sweets being apple proposal too. Although lemon sweets are disappointing and the citrus flavour should be replaced by pink grapefruit.

BritInUS1 · 09/03/2020 02:39

My niece loves the unusual flavour M&M’s and watermelons sours

iloveredwine · 09/03/2020 02:41

Jolly ranchers and the Reeces giant cup chocolate is what my kids like

jay55 · 09/03/2020 02:51

Not sweets but the crunchy Cheetos.

missyoumuch · 09/03/2020 03:35

Twizzlers and Reese's Pieces for us

Blondie1984 · 09/03/2020 03:47

Rather than sweets I would get some of the different flavoured Oreos - and Kool Aid

Blondie1984 · 09/03/2020 03:48

We can get Twinkies and Fluff here already

C4tintherug · 09/03/2020 18:06

My kids love jolly ranchers

vitaminC · 09/03/2020 18:09

Twizzlers are what my teens always ask for when DH goes out there on business.
Oh and M&Ms. I think they're different from the European ones or something.

kateybeth79 · 09/03/2020 20:09

Junior Mints!!!!! I was addicted to them!!

kitk · 09/03/2020 20:16

OP, my never been to Americas kids loves twinkies! For me... strawberry Mountain Dew!

RevolutionofourTime · 11/03/2020 15:27

Hot tamales (for myself, screw the kids!).

Nerds, twizzlers.

The sour candy that comes in a rectangular box like hot tamales, I forget the name .

Sweet corn.

Cinnamon hearts.

Life savers/jolly ranchers.

Peppermint bark.

Pez (can’t remember if we do Pez in the UK?)

What would I give to live in close vicinity of a Duane Reade

RevolutionofourTime · 11/03/2020 15:28

Also Ketchup flavoured crisps

I may not be painting myself in a good light here
