Primary schools in Paris - recommendations

We have children aged 7 and 4 (going into years 3 and Reception). We’re moving to Paris for 3 years in the next year and are looking for schools.
We’re thinking of international or bilingual schools rather than the French system, but we do want the children to lean French, either in school or outside. So far we’ve look at the British School and International School of Paris but want other options to consider. Also undecided about central Paris vs. suburbs, but that may well be dictated by school choice.
I’d be grateful for advice, reviews, recommendations and any other thoughts you might have.

Your children will be in English expat bubbles at those 2 schools, if serious about any competent level of French, I'd look elsewhere. Do forum Search, lots of info.

Thanks - that is my main concern about those two schools

Which area will you be working it ?
What is you budget for school fees ?
How long a school run would you be willing to do ?

CielBleuEtNuages · 26/07/2019 15:48

Where will you be living and working?

French school days are long (usually 8.30-4.30) so try to avoid too long a commute as DC will be exhausted being in a new environment and language.

Are school fees being paid for? There's a huge range between 5k and 30k+ a year

DH working in the centre, I won’t be working initially. He’s willing to commute if necessary. School fees will be paid by employer

Another option in central Paris (15th) is the EIB - Victor Hugo school.

victorhugoschool.com

Our son, 7, just completed Grade 1 there, and will continue on to Grade 2 (Year 3 equivalent in England) as of September this year. This is the anglophone section of the EIB group of schools, but children have one hour of French daily (grouped by ability level) plus art, music and sports classes in French. So I believe it is a bit more than what ISP or BSP or other English-medium schools offer. They follow the Cambridge International Curriculum in other subject areas.

Irrespective of that, we were very happy with our experience at the school last year - excellent and very engaged teachers (and head teacher), good organisation, and very well structured teaching/pedagogical approaches. The school gets very negative reviews in this forum for some reason, some of them a bit dated admittedly, but I can only say good things about it - let me know if you would like more specific information.
