Moving to Madrid

We potentially have the opportunity for a move to Madrid with my husbands work. We have two children aged 3 years 2 months and 16 months. We speak zero Spanish and are a little clueless about the city so would love it if anyone living there as an expat mum could give any advice on areas/schools/lifestyle/nurseries/whether you would recommend it?

I've been trying to look online at rentals and it seems like aircon is a must but we would love a pool as I feel like this would make the move worthwhile - for us and the children. It would be great to have a city centre apartment with these things but i think we might need to live out in the urba, and Im not sure if that would be isolating and not much fun. I think our monthly budget for rent would be around 2,200-2,700 euros a month (although the package isn't finalised yet so we could potentially pay a bit more).

Thank you so much!
