Hi,

We're moving to Birmensdorf soon and would welcome any advice/ impressions.
I have two little boys, 4 and 6.
We have a rented house lined up.
Any info Re school and normal life in the town would be great: shopping, extra school activities, school drop-off/ pick-up routine.
Thank you!

Hi, I live nearby, Birmensdorf is a nice little town with a couple of supermarkets and in summer it has a lovely outdoor swimming pool. Lots of people from my village go to the Sanapark sports centre for fitness classes and tennis, as well as dance lessons for children. There's also a Turnverein sports club run by volunteers, for much cheaper children's/adults sports and gymnastic classes.

Schools are very different from England! I'd recommend reading the stickies on the Education section of englishforum.ch
There is no drop off/pick up like English schools, walking alone is usual from kindergarten age, most children go home for lunch and there is no school Wed afternoons plus 1/2 afternoons are free depending on age.

I hope that helps, good luck with your move!
