Hi,
Considering a move to Riyadh and would like current opinions / info good and bad on the education options. 3 children, oldest two at private secondary UK at the moment and very academic. Youngest not academic borderline dyslexic possibly, primary level UK. Also the normal route taken when oldest ready for uni.
Thanks!

Hi. There is only really the British School (BISR), unless you want to consider changing curriculum. You may want to compare the standard of instruction your children would get there with what they currently receive... (look at the uni destinations and A level results). Also the number of subjects taught and extra curricular activities could be a lot more limited. Have you considered boarding?

Oh and you'll want to consider implications for uni fees if your DC want to go to uni in the UK. A very complex matter, with different institutions applying different residency criteria...

Thanks AnimulaVagulaBlandula...these are all the issues I'm wrestling with..boarding too expensive in UK (plus company won't pay outside SA). And I don't think my DS would be suited even if DD would be.
I just don't want to make a decision to move them that will ruin their academic options...yet...a move to SA will mean better family life (together rather than separated) plus more travel etc which I feel is just as important as academics.
Will have an older child in uni in UK and retain property so unsure how that will affect fees as different unis seem to have different rules to complicate matters.

I'm a long time gulf resident and Saudi seems to be the last of the GCC to have decent British secondary education. Any school will definately be a compromise. Worth asking on two fat expats on Facebook and you might find some success stories but personally it would be a no from me.

Plenty of food for thought, thanks folks....will check out the Facebook link, thank you.

Late yo the party, and in the wrong city, but the other think to watch is, ime, Saudi is not great with learning support. So if your youngest needs anything other than minimal support, stay clear.

Hi considering, did you decide on what to do?

Hi

In a similar boat as you. School wise choice seems limited. Have you shortlisted any compounds yet?
