Moving from UK to Germany -medical records

My doctor's receptionist is a dragon and I can't bear any more of her withering looks. Does anyone know what I need to do to get medical records for my family moved to Germany? Do I have to wait until I'm out there in August, then call back for them to be transferred?

I've never done this but will they not give them to you to take with you? It would save them money too. Ask your doctor next time you go maybe?

if you are going to with the british forces then yoyr medical records will follow you although this will take approx 8 weeks, so if there is anything important you need ask your doctor for a paper printout of them.

if you are not going to live with the british forces, then your medical notes will not leave the country they will be archived in the uk till you return. so in that case you will need to ask the GP for a photocopy of all your notes and that will cost you a lost.

saz360 is right, NHS records stay in the UK. To be honest unless you have a particular medical condition you don't really need the records. Just make sure you have vacination certificates etc if appropriate.

We have been living in Germany for nearly 2 years and our medical records are still in UK. When we were TTC I called the doctors surgery and the receptionist photocopied all the relevant parts of my medical notes for me, including vaccinations, blood tests and smears etc. I think it cost approx £15 administration charge, and it was a fair wadge of paper! (but then she's not an old dragon she's lovely!)
