emigrating! where on earth to start?

ok, really on the very first stage of thinking about emigrating. as in i mnetioned to dp last night had he thought about it and he said yes. so very early thinking stage.
however i have NO IDEA where to go, or what to look at or what to consider if we were serious about it.
visas
money
buying a house
schools etc are some of the main things we need to think about. if we did go for it i would want it to be in the next 5 years ideally so how long roughly does it take from applying and being allowed in so to speak.
we would be thinking of australia though suppose have no reason not to consider new zealand so to speak.
i guess many of you have done this or are in the process of doing it and think i am really stupid for not knowing where to go to look but hey, im honest, im clueless.
so any help would be very much appreciated.

Why do you want to go? Do you want the country you go to to be English speaking? What qualifications/skills do you both have?

I think you may have to narrow it down to a Country tbh before you start asking for house prices and schools and visas etc

we are emigrating to Perth and are going through the visa crap atm

we are paying an agent to sort all the paperwork out for us, they charge around £1500 + VAT (in installments)

then you pay for the applications, Trade one is £150, emigration one is around £800

then you pay for medicals

it goes on and on

want to go as feel it is a better quality of life for the children etc and yes to being english speaking. i guess we have choosen australia, as that was the only one we have mentioned etc. my dp is a director of a tile company. it is a family buisness and the plan would be for him to set up a side of it there. it is mainly for new builds, as in when houses are being built etc they tile all the bathrooms. i am a performing arts teacher though would be helping in the buisness and a sahm. hth
