It's cold in Melbourne too CF ... haven't been this cold for 5 years ...

"Come to Australia," said DH, "It's lovely and warm and never rains!"
I have the heating on, have worn my coat every day this week and had to buy a brolly

It's nice though, like it really - but don't tell the aussies

In NSW the Queen's birthday public holiday is on Monday 11th. So not this monday, next.

Mellin · 02/06/2007 02:36

ghosty sounds like dh has used the hard sell on you!

I will add that it has been lovely and warm (for late autumn) in Sydney for the past 3 weeks. 20-23 degrees most days. Apparently NSW has had the warmest May on record

ghosty · 02/06/2007 02:36

A ha! So presumably that will be in Victoria too then ...
Always cracks me up that they have a holiday for the Queen's birthday ...

5 years ago he also said, "Come to New Zealand, they don't have any spiders ..."

I was bitten by a White Tail in the first week ...

feck knows what it's for
we have a day off too but I think it's Foundation Day or some such made up nonsense as befits a young whelp of a country desparately trying to keep up with its former masters

ghosty · 02/06/2007 02:38

Ah thanks for that Mellin

Ghosty, where have you moved to in Vic?
I'm down on the Peninsula and I am feckin' freezing. The views are brilliant, love the area but I am cold! It's been pissing down for weeks although shouldn't really complain about that because of the drout.

Mellin · 02/06/2007 05:13

ghosty, not new to MN but not usually in this time zone. I am an Aussie who lives in London but have been visiting family in NSW for the past 2 months!! I love maternity leave.

ghosty · 02/06/2007 05:44

DCsnatchsunhill ... I am in the heart of suburbia ... Ivanhoe (10km north of city) ... aaaaaaaaagggggggghhhhhh - am missing my auckland sea views ...
How long have you been there?

Mellin ... must be nice to be home ...

Ghosty, we've been here just over a year now. We rarely come up to the big City as it's just such a trek with the two little ones.
We feel like we live in the middle of nowhere. It's quite a country town we're in, although we're two mins stroll to the beach.
It is so beautiful..

eidsvold · 02/06/2007 06:40

mon 11th here too ghosty.

ghosty - at least you get the bleedin day off for Melbourne cup - think it is only in Vis or may even be only in Melbourne.

We aussies love our long weekends - except we did not plan too well to have most of our public(bank) holidays in the first half of the year here in Qld.

you must have brought the rain ghosty - today is our first real autumny/winter day - bit overcast and some rain - not much though.
