Moving to Portugal

We are contemplating a move to Portugal within the next two years. My husband travels extensively and could be based within an hour of Lisbon. I teach Physics and have a leadership role within the UK but would happily be a classroom teacher if any opportunities are available. Our children will be on their last year of A levels this academic year and would like to attend university within the UK. We have visited Portugal many times and are keen sailors so are very keen on the Cascais and surrounding area. My concerns about moving are whether I would settle and make friends as my husband will be away a lot, the rapid increase in housing costs in this area and whether I could find any work. I am starting to learn Portuguese. Any advice or experiences would be really appreciated.
Thank you.

I am in Cascais now and have lived here for 5 weeks! We'll be here for 2/3yrs with my husband's job and the house etc was organised by the company.

My kids go to an international school about 20 mins away and have settled well. There are lots of expats here of all nationalities and many of the locals have an amazing level of English. It's easy to find places to do Portuguese language lessons too and I'm looking forward to starting my lessons later today!

The train is excellent although most people drive or Uber into Lisbon itself.

Cascais is very expensive but I understand that Estoril, Carcavelos, Parede etc further towards Lisbon are more reasonable in terms of housing. Cost of living is pretty high off the top of my head diesel is around €.1.50 a litre, a litre of milk is €1 and a small packet of ham is €1.50 (random things I remember from my shopping list!)

If there is anything specific you'd like to ask just let me know.
