Moving to Guernsey

Hello

Thinking about moving to Guernsey for a job. Myself and my husband, plus our three girls (5, 3, and 1).

We would be renting at first, and we own our house here.

Does anyone have any Guernsey specific advice? Gems of knowledge about Guernsey?

Thanks so much!

I'm assuming you know about the local and open market house availability and prices.. if you can afford that and you're happy with it then go for it! It's a wonderful place. I have family there (who are Guernsey born).

Get your children into as many hobbies as possible. Guernsey isn't the most naturally lively of places so eleviate the inevitable boredom before it hits. You'll never be far from a beach though so weather permitting, they'll be something to do.

Driving is a different style there. V slow but v courteous. I'm a bit impatient but it doesn't take very long to get anywhere. Watch out for road closures. Never announced and very frequent! Sat nav is NOT reliable. Have a good road map in the car.

Be prepared for everyone to know your business. It's basically just a large village.

And there's a beach cafe in Port Soif that sells the best crab sandwiches on earth.

If you have any other questions, just ask!
