Moving to Gloucestershire

Hello,

We are a family of 4 and are
moving to the U.K.
We would like to settle somewhere around Gloucestershire, preferably a small town or a village and would like to be close to bigger cities so hubby has more chances to find work there. ( ideal would be half an hour max away from a bigger city)
We are not familiar with the area so would appreciate your input of cities and villages that may be nice for us to consider suitable.

Thanks Smile

Your budget is important for Gloucestershire as it varies wildly. Cheltenham is lovely, excellent schools and good job opportunities but can be pricey for the good catchment areas. If you're looking for smaller towns, Cirencester, Stowe, Bourton on the Water are all good choices but you'll pay a premium for being in the Cotswolds. On the cheaper side you'll want to look more at Gloucester and surrounding villages. It's a beautiful county with lots to do, you'll love it!

I recommend Cheltenham, particularly for schools etc.

Stow, Bourton, Cirencester all very nice from an adults viewpoint, but less so from the perspective of teens. You would do a lot of parent's taxi driving :)

Stroud is great. Good schools, a lovely small town and lots of beautiful surroundings villages.

I would say avoid the forrest because the traffic can be a challenge in rushhour. I would pick somewhere close to M5 junction to give dh the best commuting opportunities.
