Does anybody know the situation with epidurals at the new torrevieja hospital??

Benn told 2 different things now and wondered if anyone knew what was what!!

hi ems,
i had my baby in aug 2006 in elche hospital because the new torre one wasnt open in time.i live literally 5 mins walk from the new one! whereabouts are you? i know the procedure in elche was that you had to attend a meeting that they hold once a week in a room called "salon de actos"
You have to watch a video and a nurse gives a talk about the procedure.you then get given a form which you fill out then the aneathetist comes and signs them all, you sign it, the hospital keeps a copy and you get a copy which you need to take when you go in.You need to take this form with you on the day you go into labour or there is no chance of having one.
There was quite alot of women there when i went.it was all held in Spanish.i dont speak spanish really but you dont need to, just sit there.Now i am not sure if the procedure is the same for torre.i was told that some hospitals do it, some dont as there is a limited number of anaethetists and sometimes they travel about? this is spain i suppose lol.
i didnt really want an epidural but because i heard the vega baja didnt do it and i didnt want to go to the vega baja because i had heard it was so bad so i mentioned to the midwife if i could use that as an excuse to transfer and she said yes.so i had to go through the rigmarole of going to the Vega Baja to fill in transferral forms etc then wait for it all to be accepted.
On the day itself they told me they were sorry but i couldnt have one because it was early hours and there wasnt an anaethetist available.i didnt mind because as i said i didnt want one.oh my god im going on.yeh so have you asked the midwife? do you have solange in pilar? thats the lady i had.how long do you have left to go???
i know about 3 ladies that have had babies in torre.it is supposed to be wonderful
