Medical for Australain Permanent Resident Visa

I was granted a temporary spousal resident visa and now I'm in the process of applying for my permanent one. I'm in the UK and will be going to one of the panel doctors for the medical.

I Would like to know what they assess? I know they take a chest x-ray and a blood test but what do they look for in the blood? What other areas of health are checked? I've recently had surgery for a cochlear implant and it was switched on yesterday (woohoo), so I hope that doesn't present any problems.

Thanks folks, hoping this will work out, it's been a very complicated process!

Surely there is a website that give you this info? Try googling it on the .com.au version.
Good luck.

They tested for HIV I seem to recall..can't recall what else. I rememeber my dd1 having a hearing test. Oh, and a breast examination (presumably to rule out cancer)

This was kinda what I was after hex. The reason being that I've just had surgery for a cochlear implant (I lost my hearing in both ears at the end of last year). I was wondering if they would question whether I would be a huge burden on the state, or not fit for employment.

I was just very upfront with the doctor as soon as I went in, told her that I'd had my implant switched on yesterday and the results were very promising.

So for anyone who is interested, I filed in from 26, talked about if I'd had any surgery, if I was on medication, if I'd had any illnesses like TB, depression, drug addiction. Also if I was pregnant or on medication.

In the physical exam she weighed me, measured my height and took my blood pressure. Then I took off everything except my underwear and she did a breast exam, stomach area, checked my joints and breathing.

I also had a blood and urine test for HIV and Hep B. I think that was it! I was in for about and hour and she was very nice. I'm going for a chest x-ray on Monday and the whole lot has to be sent off by courier to the office in Sydney, which is quite an expense but will be so worth it in the end.

Thanks for your replies.
