We will be moving this summer (2018) to Oz and are looking for recommendations of container/packing companies. Very grateful for any advice.

I can tell you who NOT to use. Anglo Pacific.

Bloody AWFUL. Almost everything which was breakable was broken.

My DH's bike was practically in pieces....the man opened the van and a pedal fell out. The bike had been well packed in a cycle box. My sewing machine was crushed.

My pictures in frames....all smashed.

I had packed well. The things had been tossed everywhere repeatedly. All boxes dented and crushed.

Most of these moving companies are just reselling other company's services and breakages can happen with all of them.

It's worth making sure there is comprehensive insurance for the move.

If you've got a lot of stuff to move then hire a half or whole shipping container and move the stuff into the container yourself (if they'll let you).

We used Anglo Pacific and they were excellent, but they did all the packing. In fact it was part of the deal, they insisted. It went into a container with the car.

Oddly, the only things that didn't survive were lamp stands with swivels.

We used Crown, admittedly 8 years ago. Heard amazing things about them. But we had a shared container and the other party dropped out and our container got forgotten about and took 12 weeks in the end. When it got here they were great, the delivery guys unpacked everything and put together furniture.
They have a great reputation, maybe don’t get a shared container though!

John Mason were good a few years ago. Nothing broken at all! It took a long time because I only needed half a container so they had to wait to fill the other half but apart from that couldn't fault them

I used Seven Seas to move from OZ to the UK to ship boxes. I will be using them again this year to move back to OZ. I’m thinking about using their square cube, depending how much stuff we take. Nothing was broke and I found them helpful.
