Holiday let in Spain

We are thinking of purchasing a 2/3 bed holiday let in Spain for our use and to rent out. Does anyone have any advice haven’t big already done it? Property searches are returning lots of properties that are within complexes but no info about fees. I have emailed a couple of agents but nothing back yet. We would like something on the coast near/in a town and 1-2 hours from the airport. Pool not a necessity but outside space would be nice.

Where in Spain are you thinking of?
If you buy a property for holiday rental you will need a reliable company to manage changeover which will obviously come at a cost. You now need a tourist license to rent out property in Spain to paying guests. Many areas are desperate for long term lets 3 month to a year. This would be cheaper to maintain but preclude you using the property for longer periods.
You need to factor in about 11% of the purchase price for taxes, notary charges etc then the community fees which could be as low as 40 euros a month to 150 or more, IBI- like council tax but usually much lower, Basura -rubbish collection and non residents tax.
Hope that helps.
