Hi all. Used to be a regular on MN when I lived in London but since moving back to NZ have found it harder to make the connections due to all the brits being asleep when us down under are online! So if anyone is keen to start a thread for those of us in this predicament please reply! My DD has just turned 5 and started school last week (scary). Have just found out I'm expecting number 2 - due roughly Xmas day...

Thanks Welliemum! All going well would love some visitors soon

DD now with my Mum so very quiet here. Trying to keep myself a bit active/occupied while things are relatively low key. Just been down to the local supermarket (2 min drive) and to fill up car with petrol.

Might have a bath soon but don't want to slow things down!!

Good luck Buzzy, keep us updated as long as you can

welliemum · 29/12/2007 23:42

Go, Buzzy!

buzzybee · 30/12/2007 01:52

Still at home. Not much change. MW thinks may not step up a notch until evening now so will send DD home with my mum this evening. They've gone out to a playground so DD quite happy. A friend is coming over to keep me company soon which will be nice as a bit bored!!

AnnainNZ · 30/12/2007 02:46

Could be a New Year's Eve baby then!

V excited for you!

Shells · 30/12/2007 04:19

Ooo I've missed all the action! Hope the deed is done Buzzy, or at least things are ok. Can't wait to hear news. Lots of love and luck to you!

Shells · 30/12/2007 18:19

Buzzybee had her baby girl at 7.45pm last night (Sunday). All well. I'm sure she'll post soon. Yippee!!!!

welliemum · 30/12/2007 19:12

Brilliant!!!

Am so looking forward to seeing the new little Bee!

AnnainNZ · 30/12/2007 22:34

Yay Buzzy! Fabulous news.

buzzybee · 31/12/2007 07:58

Welliemum - she is actually the new little Bea!!

Back home now, a bit weary from a night on the ward and slightly sore but feeling pretty good!

Birth story here if you're interested. Poor MW - Bea was her 4th baby delivered in 36 hours but I think the fastest!!

Beatrix has been great all day until about 5pm when she started to get a bit colicy and throwing up quite a bit. She is now sleeping again so off do some expressing.

She is gorgeous and I can't get over how much she looks like DD1 despite their different fathers!

sorry here

welliemum · 31/12/2007 09:30

Wow, that was quick!! Good work!

We're thrilled for you, and what lovely names! (her 3rd name is my middle name by the way!)

Hope her tummy settles tonight and that you get some rest.

Would love to see her sometime - but of course only after you've had a good chance to get to know her first!

buzzybee · 31/12/2007 20:13

Hi all. Night wasn't toooo bad in the end. She woke about 10pm and was quite alert and then proceeded to want feeding continuously until about 3am when finally dozed off beside me in bed and we both slept through until about 7.30am.
Have managed to express about 20ml colustrum twice now so quite pleased with that.
No more major posseting since about 8pm - maybe her version of evening colic so will be more prepared tonight.
Luckily she doesn't seem to be too clingy and DD1 is being a real star helping out and being very kind and gentle.
Bea is lying in her bouncer now looking at the Xmas tree lights.
I feel not too bad - pain is subsiding a bit. DD1 going to play at a friends house today so will try and get a nap later. MW due in an hour or so.

Thanks for all the congrats. It really feels very special - so nice to be at home in NZ this time with loads of friends and family around, even tho a lot are still out of town

Welliemum, Shells - feel free to pop in. Probably best to ring first or text but at the moment feeling quite up for visitors to welcome Bea and the new year!

AnnainNZ · 01/01/2008 00:22

Buzzy - Amelia does that thing too of a few hours wanting to continually feed and fusses around. Luckily for me she does it at the more sociable hours of about 5pm - 9pm, then goes down to sleep. I express a bottle in the mornign now for that evening time as otherwise I feel I spend pretty much 4 hours feeding non-stop!

Can't complain though, that's the only time of the day she gets a bit much.

Happy new year to all the Kiwi MNers! I went to bed at 9pm on N Y Eve - life after kids, eh? She's totally worth it though

buzzybee · 01/01/2008 01:02

Anna - sounds like that's what I should aim for too. I do think its pretty common in the evenings.

We've both just had a 2 hour nap and now going to express some more. Milk hasn't come in yet but still managing to get a reasonable amount and Beatrix is slowly learning how to use the bottle.

She's a very lean long baby with hardly an ounce of fat on her so have realised I need more long sleeved/legged stuff to complement the s/s bodysuits.

MW been and gone and no concerns. Back again tomorrow to take off umbilical clip.

Funnily enough I was awake at midnight!!! Quiet around here thankfully - one neighbour set off a couple of crackers.

Such a gorgeous day today

Congratulations on the birth of Beatrix Buzzy - what a gorgeous name!

I lurk on here from time to time but you all seem to know each other already so I don't usually post I reckoned that baby MUST have been born by now though so came on to check!

Ninedragons: Try posting on britishexpats or pomsinoz about schools. Most people there will just ignore you if they can't/don't want to help rather than picking a fight We pulled DS1 out of the local state high (in Sydney) after 7 weeks and have sent him (and the others) to a Christian school which surprises everyone who knows me, but with three kids the "top notch" privates were out of our price range and we're very happy with our choice, but I was surprised at how difficult it is to avoid religious schools here. It's like being back in Dublin!!!!

buzzybee · 03/01/2008 08:49

Hi Sunnydelight!!
Thanks for your post, really nice to have a few more kiwis "lurking" on MN
Shells, Welliemum and I met up through MN a few months back which was really cool. We all happen to live in Wellington and NZ being NZ this is such a small town. Whereabouts are you?

Bea has had a fantastic day today - she slept last night for 7 hours (1.30am to 8.30am) and has slept most of today as well apart from a couple of short stretches. Might be expecting too much for another long sleep tonight tho...

We ventured out properly for the first time today - DD1 wanted to take Bea for a walk in her buggy. Had brunch at Astoria, visited Kirks, went up Cable Car. All good fun - altho DD1 was disappointed that Bea slept through the entire thing! Probably over-did it slightly but DD1 at my Mum's tonight so don't have to worry about feeding/playing with her etc.

Milk has come in so trying to express every 3-4 hours and Bea is now largely on EBM - long may the supplies last

buzzybee · 03/01/2008 08:52

Sorry Sunny - see you are in Sydney. Should read posts more carefully

OP posts:
welliemum · 03/01/2008 09:05

Wow, Buzzy, you and Bea are doing magnificently!

Seething chaos here with nanny crisis, car having WOF and other fun stuff so I've been a bit out of it all...

Anyway, I'm so pleased things are going well, and good luck for the appointment tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing you both sometime soon!

MrsJohnCusack · 03/01/2008 10:13

oh I missed all of this - only got back yesterday. Congratulations Buzzy! and what a great name

buzzybee · 03/01/2008 13:24

Mnay thanks MrsJC!! How was Marlborough Sounds? Bit wet to start with I imagine.

Posting 2am as up exprssing milk!!

OP posts:
MrsJohnCusack · 03/01/2008 18:11

the Sounds were LOVELY and after the first full day, very warm indeed.

the family part was fairly grim though; my father fell over and broke his shoulder so I spent a couple of days ferrying him back and forth to the hospital (mother won't drive very far, so they're now a bit stranded up there), plus my mother and sister nearly fell out for good.

still, DD and DS had a fab time and all was rescued by a New Year's day trip up the KEnepuru sound - gorgeous

buzzybee · 03/01/2008 20:28

Oh no your poor Dad!

I see Blenheim came in tops on the sunniest place in NZ last year.

We had another good night - only up for just over an hour feeding/expressing at 2am then slept through to 7am. very blessed so far

Off to hospital at 1pm for scan. My mum's b'day today so better be good

OP posts:
AnnainNZ · 03/01/2008 22:24

Good luck with Bea's scan Buzzy
