Help with selling Spanish Propety

Hi

I'm hoping someone can help me😩 My parents have owned an apartment in benalmadena Spain for 20 yrs and want to sell it but they have lost the escritura. The notary who they signed it in front of is no longer around and the firm closed down. We have instructed a solicitor to make searches of land registries in Malaga but the nota simple just shows the previous owners ( a company which is now dissolved) We are at a bit of a dead end!

As they have paid Spanish rates on the property for 20 years is there any other way of showing ownership or can anyone recommend somewhere to go for help or any other Spanish property lawyer specialist?

Thanks

Nothing is ever simple in Spain. There is a website www.andalucia.com which has a forum where you could post this question. One section deals with ‘you and the law’ (maybe not the exact wording but if you sign up to the forum you will find it). Hope you are able to sort it out. Do your parents have a Spanish will regarding the property? If they do maybe there’s something in that which may help?
