Trailing husband (Dubai)

I am considering a job offer in Dubai, the offer is for me (female) and we have two dc who will be 5 and 3 by the time we arrive, if we go.
In this case, I would be full time working and my DH would be the trailing spouse, and not working at least for the first few months while dcs settle into school and nursery.

We have been expats before in Singapore, but I was the trailing spouse. I found it pretty easy there because most trailing spouses were mums in reality, so there was an easy social life to be had.

Does anyone have experience of being the one to work and having Dh as the trailing spouse? How did your Dh find it?

Watching as we are in the same position. He's been looking at an online travel franchise as an option. Are you any further on with plans?

A few men I know there were the trailing one. It all works out. There are job opportunities when you get there.

I definitely wouldn't recommend travel consultancy though @jolufc. I swear every other person I met there had tried that at one stage or another. The market is completely saturated!

Thanks for that Sue. Will seek other options.

Still have some time to think at the moment so not much further! Dh is up for it- he's an engineer so I don't think he would have that much trouble getting a job in the end.
I would be a bit worried about having time to make friends but I guess through work I might!

I went to the UAE because of my job and my husband was the trailing spouse.

He does all the school drop offs and pick ups. Other fathers are there too but none of them are FT SAHD.

It’s difficult to find work at the moment, especially without local work experience so may take a while for your OH to find something.
