Anyone in Darwin???

DH has been approached about a possible job in Darwin, can anyone can give some info about the area, the good and not so good about Darwin and surrounding areas, we live in Dubai at the moment and we don't want to exchange the heat here for much the same over there, iyswim. We weren't planning on going to Oz for at least a couple of years and I wanted to go to SA not NT, so am pretty unsure what to do.

I'm not in Darwin. But I've been there on holiday. It's very hot, and not much around. Kakadu national park is lovely though.

Thanks belgo. will have to research more, don't think we could cope with more heat though.

It just seems such an isolated town. It's fine if you have an interesting job - I have a friend who worked there as a nurse with the flying doctor service and that was an amazing experience- but I'm not sure what there's to do if you're not working.
