WHEN to make the move?

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for your help with my previous question about the logistics of a move.

My next question is when to actually move. We can choose my DHs start date basically anytime between January or September next year. There is the possibility of him starting a couple of months before we all go too - he would be over there 1 week in 3 for example.

I'm 1/3 of the way through a Masters so I'm a bit screwed anyway so it doesn't really matter to me when we move.

I think my main consideration is the impact on the kids and whether it would be easier to go e.g. March and get to know some kids before the summer break, or, whether to go for end of July and then they could finish this coming year in school and start at their new schools in September.

This is going round and round in my head and we need to decide within the next week so I would be really grateful for any opinions. Many thanks!

My Dh went before us as we were shipping stuff and we went after the shipping had arrived.

We opted for the start of the summer. It gave us chance to settle before school started. It's really not that hard for kids to make new friends. We did it all together but next time one of us would go first and the others when the shipping was done and dusted.
