Anyone in Geneva?

DH has just gotten a job in Geneva and in about 6 weeks we'll be moving. We've decided to look for houses over the border, residing in France and he'll commute into Geneva.

I've been to Switzerland before, not Geneva however. I've been to France quite a few times. Any tips greatly appreciated!

I live near Geneva in neighbouring France. We moved here 4 years ago and bought a house here last year. What side of Geneva do you want to move to? Please feel free to pm with any questions, I don't have much time now.

Thanks for replying! I'll send you a PM :)

I'm near-ish, in a neighbouring canton. Been here since the beginning of the year and really like it so far. Good luck!

Just left after living there for 4 years. Absolute loved it. We're now in Singapore and I miss it every day.

In terms of where you live, where will you be travelling to day to day? School? Work?

If you want to PM me I'd be happy to go through the bus/tram lines nearest to work/school.

I'm in the next canton and worked in Geneva for the past five years. Many people choose to live on the French side and commute - they are known as 'Frontaliers'.
Do either of you speak French? Geneva is pretty easy to get by in with just English, but the French side of the border is much less so. I would strongly consider you both look at taking lessons.
Have at look at the Geneva Welcome Centre's pages for help and advice www.cagi.ch/en/home.php

I've been in Geneva for almost eight years, but living in Geneva, rather than in neighbouring France. Still, feel free to PM me; I'd be happy to help as far as I am able.
