Buying clothes online in UK for Aus delivery - anyone ever had to pay any import duty?

I've got my eye on a big order about 200 quid's worth from Boden but as I'm going throught the checkout pages it is warning my that they aren't responsible for any import duties or the like?

WWYD?

GOT £100 worth of Boden stuff delivered here (NZ) a couple of months ago no problems and plan to do so again (import duty didn't even occur to me actually). Don't know if Oz is more stringent on that kind of thing though.

hi you need to keep it under aust 200.00 then you dont have to do import tax's i would do your order in 3 or 4 lots to keep it small then it looks more like personal use if you do a big order they will tax you. I ordered items from uk when in oz and got stung big time. i hope that helps

sunnywong · 23/03/2007 15:10

thanks
I will do it in two lots

more to the point suzy - what items are you ordering??

I have ordered three tank tops - leaf, amethyst and peat (i.e. green, purple and brown), a daisy print skirt and a leafy green dress. Nice. Hope the skirt and dress will be good for Aus when I get there next year, hurraaaahhhh, Have had a few glasses of white wine, can you tell??

Good morning Suzy. We import things in from China for work. We use a customs broker and do not pay any tax on orders valued under $1000.

Do Next deliver here? I have kept a stash of money in the UK and get my mum to order me bits and post them over (she is always sending clothes over for DD anyway).

I am going over to the UK in June and plan on taking an empty suitcase and stocking up my wardrobe. You will have to let me know nearer the time if you want a little something bringing back.

So when are you free for this meet up?

eidsvold · 25/03/2007 11:21

I am extraordinarily homesick today.

you never said what you were ordering from Boden!! What is hip n happening from the current catalogue in WA!!??

humpydumpy · 26/03/2007 06:34

Great, we can be homesick together. The weather here at the moment is great for the kids. Will be great to get DD out and let her burn off some energy. We have had a stressful couple of weeks here and need some fun.

I will email you at the end of the week to arrange something.
