I just idly googled "mumsnet Vienna" and came across various threads by people talking about moving to Vienna. I've been here for bloody ages and will be for the forseeable future - would love to connect with any MNers who are here too.

Hi Rhubarbara, think we've chatted on the Germany/Austria thread. I'm surprised there aren't more posters in Vienna considering how many expats there are. As I've probably said, I'm just outside Vienna - there's a MNer just down the road from me, but I haven't seen her post for ages.

Hi Linzer, yes I remember - you're in Baden, aren't you? There are lots of Brits and Americans in Vienna so I'm surprised too that there aren't more on MN.

I am, yes - hardly any Brits or Americans here, so anyone who knows me in RL will immediately know who I am. I should probably never have divulged our exact location, but have posted so much identifying information on the Germany & Austria threads over the years that I would be instantly recognisable anyway. I just have to make sure I stick to posting fairly innocuous stuff that I wouldn't mind anyone knowing about in RL.

There was a thread last month along the lines of AIBU to think that everyone would want to live here; the country was never named and the OP didn't return, but it was obviously about Austria. The OP had been in the country for 20 years; maybe it was the other poster on the German thread who's also been in Vienna for 20 years, then.

Don't worry about reporting your post - I've mentioned the town on quite a few older threads and only ever post very mundane stuff. I think I'd need to conceal the fact that I live in Austria to stay anonymous, and my user name is a bit of a giveaway.

Have just found that thread - you're right that it was obviously Austria! No, that wasn't me, though I'm curious to know who it was. Would be nice if we could round up a posse of MNers for the occasional Vienna meet-up but it seems unlikely - we're so few and far between!

I did manage to have a mini meet-up with two other Vienna MNers a few years ago but yes, considering how many members the VBC has, there are surprisingly few MNers in Vienna (or who'll admit to being there, at any rate). I used to come into Vienna several times a week when I just had one DC but now that the DC are all secondary age, only make it in very occasionally. Let me know if you're ever out BN way, though.

I suspect we'll never find out who the mystery OP of that thread was; she (assuming it's a she) was very well-informed about Austria, though, knowing things that even Austrian DH didn't. It's a shame there aren't enough posters for an Austrian thread, but even the German thread is rarely very busy.

I certainly will, though I think I've only been to your neck of the woods twice in all my time here! Same goes for you if you find yourself in the vicinity

Hello Fit (or should I call you Leclerc? DD does a good impression of him)! I would definitely be on for a meet-up if is involved (not otherwise, of course). Not sure we're going to get any more Viennese MNers coming out of the woodwork, though.
