So... I called up a woman to do cleaning, and when she arrived I asked if she had any references - anyone I could speak to that she'd worked for, and she looked as if I'd slapped her in the face and point blank. Is this normal? Do people just not ask for references here? I got her number from a card in a local shop, so I didn't even have a word of mouth reference.
