Thinking if a move to Europe - self employed

DH and I have been wondering about a move for the past couple of years. I have had itchy feet since my mum died and he has always been open to the idea.

DH is currently self employed so would be looking to continue this abroad and we also also plan to run some kind of tourist business. Probably holiday let. We will have enough funds to be mortgage free if we pick the right place and so only need to make enough to live on. We are looking for a change of pace. We have a 10 yo.

Just wondering if anyone has made a move on this basis. Often families seem to move as one or the other has a job offer and with this comes support often from employers.

Anyone out there running a holiday business, b&b, campsite or similar? How difficult has it been to get set up and be self employed in your chosen country? Where are you and why did you choose that location?

I would love to read about others experiences.

I think you might want to wait until the brexit negotiations have finished if you are thinking about Europe. You will not only need to earn enough to live on but also enough to pay all your health care costs for example.

As a general rule half of what you take would go in running costs and half of what is left goes in taxes of one kind or another.
