We are emigrating beginning of May to Oz and I would really like to take my double buggy on flight (have a 3 year old and 20 mths). It weighs a ton! Any advice?

Get a travel bag to put it in - I've heard lots of tales of them turning up half destroyed at the other end!

We've taken single prams on loads of flights over the years, only had one problem and managed to get it fixed through warranty at Mothercare
Given it's size, probably a good idea to put in a bag if there is one to fit, but not much you can do really if a baggage handler is having a bad day
You should be able to claim on your travel insurance though if anything major happens to it though?

hayleyhew - I took our twins to Aus on holiday when they were 5 months old adn took our double buggy no problems, took them to Borneo the year after, again took the double buggy, no issues.

The differences lay with the airlines - flew Emirates to Aus that time and the buggy went straight through and so we struggled at Dubai and Singapore with having to carry them and our hand luggage. In contrast with Singapore Airlines the buggy was always waiting for us at the gate on any connecting flights which was much better.
