Top tips for moving to oz

Apologies if done to death but I need some help and can't find any recent threads on this! Dh is Australian and we have two primary age kids, we are wanting to move back (likely SA). I am hoping for tips on schools, containers, renting. What should we take/leave behind. Any tips or what you have learned/wished you had known would be much appreciated.

And when I say schools, I don't mean specific recommendations but how best to help dc settle/ what are the main diff between there and here....etc

We found it a lot more chilled in many ways, sneakers rather than shoes, skorts, tshirts, world didn't end if you didn't have the logo tshirt but it did if you didn't have a hat !
Ours were 3 years ahead tbh so they had it quite cruisy for a while which was nice, they had a lot of play time and time for hobbies

In terms of containers, I paid £3000 and shipped the lot, half of which broke within 12 months of arrival but was already 7/8 years old ... wish we'd sold it all and spent the £3000 on new

Thanks newbrummie that is really useful to know - how old were yours when you took them? Thinking same about furniture - everything in this house pretty old so maybe we would be better off buying new. Also worried about wood regulations

Take it all! Appliances are expensive, furniture is expensive (and crap), it's nice to have homely stuff.

Pay for a decent shipper, have them pack/do customs paper work - it takes about 8-10wks door to door.

We had timber furniture and had no issues with customs. Give your Hoover a good clean though 😀

Ours was Laura Ashley so not cheap stuff, no problem with wood regulations but all was either too small in the rooms, looked old, fell apart - next stuff tbf, still not cheap though - or unnecessary ie wardrobes.
Get a move cube, buy all lovely new bedding, towels etc, photos, kids stuff, take the tags off it all and send it a month ahead of you and it should arrive as you do !
I disagree that appliances are expensive now, Theres sales everywhere apparently, furniture I don't know, I bought Ikea, that's the same everywhere isn't it
