Moving back from Oz - getting a mortgage

We will be moving home from Australia soon after living away for almost 7 years (gulp). Just wondered if anyone here has managed to get a mortgage approved fairly soon after moving back to the UK and who with?

We have just been in this exact situation (out of the country even longer actually), and it was freakishly straight forward!

We went through a broker and had a Halifax mortgage within about 12weeks.

I moved back from the USA to U.K. about 10 years ago after 9 years abroad. We rented for the first 6 months (had to pay all the rent upfront as very little credit history). We did secure a mortgage with Santander, we went through a mortgage broker to help.
