Hong Kong - anything to stock up on in the UK before we move?

We're moving to HK in a month. Kids are 5 and 7. Anything you find hard to find in HK that we should buy in bulk before we move? Thanks!

buy lots of English books from bookpeople before you go - more expensive there!

Nice shoes for kids ( and yourselves if you are a bigger size) and yes, books!

If you have big norks then stock up on bras

School shoes.
paracetamol, and ibuprofen as much much cheaper in uk.
Lemsip, sudacreme.
I also go to Cosco and get multi packs of pesto. Far, far cheAper in uk.
And suntan lotion.
I also grab Tesco cotton knickers for me. £4 for 4. In black, white and nude if they have. M&S knicker pack come out at about £25 in HK.
You can get all of the above ( apart from Tesco knickers and Cosco) here, but you will pay thru the nose for them.

My advice would be take as little as possible.
Space is in relatively short supply !!
You don't want to be paying for storage in HK

Shoes - a very good point. Clark's shoes are quite pricey in Hong Kong!

Kids shoes although John Lewis are now delivering some stuff. And bras and swimsuits. If you are over a UK size 14 or boobs over a c cup stock up on clothes!

You can anything in Hk but much more expensive and difficult to source. So i would bring anything baby/toddler related: medicines, pumps, creams, baby monitors, books, activity packs, toys etc. For myself: bras/knickers, shoes, medicines, makeup, fave biscuits and teas and coffees, bedsheets, pillows, tampons, etc. Specific age/special events greeting cards and wrapping paper.
A good point is to bear in mind Hk is an extremely small city that has over 7.7 million (last i checked) so space is a luxurious unrealistic commodity. Pack sensibly because likelihood is, you're going to run out of space very quickly. And do remember you can get most things out there (even tampons but just maybe a different brand you're used to and only at selected stores, greeting cards can be upwards of 35hkd so cheaper if you can bring some over). And there is M&S there, selection is smaller and much more expensive (e.g a packet of plain biscuits 23hkd, a single bra 250hkd) but if you're stuck.....

But goodluck with your move, Hong Kong is fun city! Take it in your stride.

Thanks! Kids are 5 and 7 so we are thankfully out of the baby stage. I've stocked up on tampons, bras, knickers, bedding, pillows, medicines, swimwear, shoes, pyjamas. I don't think we'll have time to stock up on greeting cards and wrapping - we're flying on Thursday. We've got a pretty good housing budget (I think) so I'm hoping we can find a large flat. Our London home isn't big, so I don't think there will be a massive size difference. We don't drink tea and I'm going to wean myself off crisps :)

You can bring in walker crisps, but you can get them there too. I've seen them in some supermarkets. Oh sorry missed the point re your kids' ages. Well for for 5 and 7, they'll be ok because they're out of the baby range (which is super expensive in Hk). For your kids i don't think they'll need much brought over. If they play wii/xbox games and have the UK version, a lot of games there sell the Japanese version which will be incompatible with UK version, hence a few games brought over to entertain them whilst you unpack wouldn't be a bad idea.
