Hurricane warning in Germany

Blimey, here I am listening to BBC7 and reading Mumsnet and in my own little world and I get a call from DS2's music teacher cancelling his lesson today because of the "Wetterwarnungen: hoechste Warnstufe" and I say, "Yes, it is quite windy here" DH just rang to ask if his newly-built sauna is still standing. Am in Rheinland-Pfalz.

They often forecast "Orkanartige Boeen" but this seems worse than usual. Anyone around?

I'm in Austria and of course I have been listening to Radio 2 so none the wiser. Only found out when I commented to my neighbour about why she was suddenly packing some garden furniture away. Yikes, I'm a real expat aren't I, that'll teach me to listen to more local news!

Actually there is not a breath of wind here..calm before the storm?

Teach me too! I read the forecast every few days usually and as there are often "Unwetterwarnungen" which have rarely meant anything serious for us, I suppose I take them with a grain of salt.

This afternoon is supposed to be really bad though, judging by all the flashing red alerts on the news & websites which I usually never look at

Am going to pick DD up from Kindergarten, hope they let the schools out early, but I can't get through to ask.
