Hilversum or Bussum

Hi, after 13 years abroad (Hong kong, Shanghai, Dubai) we are moving back to the Netherlands... Considering Bussum or Hilversum. As we have been long in the international environment we think Hilversum will be nice (also for the international school) though we hear and read a lot of negative comments about Hilversum. Bussum seems lovely but its a village... might be boring? All input is welcome! TIA

Marry, I lived in Hilversum for 4 years, there is often lot's going on in the town centre, live music, art festivals, their Kings day is amazing. Bussum is right next to Hilversum so even if you lived in Bussum you could easily take part in events in Hilversum, also I wouldn't call Bussum a village it is quite a large and has a decent shopping centre.

The problem with living in Hilversum if you live close to the town centre is the noise from all the loud music in the summer. I really enjoyed living in Hilversum, my husband just told me Bussum can be more expensive, plus if you want direct trains better to be in Hilversum.

Thank you for your reply! Our daughter has been accepted at the international school, we will be looking for a house close to the school but far enough from the town centre. :)
