Moving back home...

We have the opportunity to move North back to my home city, which will be a much better place to bring up our baby than where we are now. Only problem is I have been away for over 10 years now and all my friends are down south, so I would be starting from scratch (apart from massive bonus of my parents that is!). Anyone had any similar experiences/got advice on moving with a baby?

Yes Me!!
I did exactly that. Dead easy to meet people once you start to go to all the baby groups/clinics etc.

I am sure you wont regret it, if it is a nicer place to bring them up and its where you grew up which is always nice.

Plus just think of the potential for nights out with that on tap babysitting.

Cant believe its 8 yrs ago we moved back. Never regretted it for a second. Go for it!

Thanks for that! I just have visions of going to the mum/baby things and other mums already being established with friends, as my baby is now 6 months old. But something tells me I am being a little pessimistic perhaps..

Nah, some of my friends havent even started going to them yet and their babies are older still.

People start all the time.^ months is just right for some of the mum and toddler groups. Get a list from the GP/clinic and get ringing before you go. It will make you feel more confident about your plans and how to fill your days when you get there.
Am I allowed to ask where home is?

6 months! not ^

Just wanted to offer well wishes.

My native country is thousands of miles away, but there's no way I'd ever move back for good, mainly b/c working conditions there suck and I always have to work.

Scotland is home now, it has always been DH's home and our childrens'.

Hope you come to a decision that's best for you and yours.

Home is the lovely city of Edinburgh...much more appealing place to live with kids than London I'm sure you would agree (sorry Londoners!!)
