From 44/111 degrees to 13/55 in 12 hours. Anyone ever experienced this before?

Here in Sydney it got to 45 yesterday afternoon and by 4 am this morning, after a storm, it had dropped. .and was still 13 degrees at 9 am this morning.

I'm very happy and have put the heating on and a jumper, but it's the most extreme I've experienced and they're pretty good at freak temps here in Sydney!

We're in Orange, and had exactly the same! Socks and jumpers on today instead of the bikini from yesterday. Bit freaky, ey?

I'm actually feeling a bit off today. .which if i told anyone round here they'd blame on the weather not sure if it's just a local thing but every illness is because of the "surprising and crazy weather". Which seems to have been more or less the same since i got here. Extreme, but not surprising.

That's insane! We can drop 10C in an hour in Texas but nothing like that.

Not exactly the same but we go from 30c in summer to as low as -45c with wind chill in winter.

That's normal for Aussie summers. The storm breaks and the temp drops.
We had 38ish and they predicted flooding in the arvo yesterday. Luckily the storm didn't hit just a sprinkle.

Had that in South Africa when we were there - get sunburnt during the day then needed 2 duvets, thick socks and a hot water bottle at night!!

Jo - I've experienced extreme diurnal temps in deserts but didn't ever think about living with it! Surprised you don't have constant colds!

I knew you would be in Sydney OP! Hope you're ok in the storms. I used to love summer storms after the heat in Sydney.

We have it in WA sometimes down south but haven't had that in Perth yet.

Same, we were pumping the aircon yesterday (which I can't stand but have to) and under blankets today. Can't be good form you. Just keep drinking lots!

I find summer nights are often freezing and feel colder than they would in winter if the same temp.

I wonder if it feels particularly challenging because 10 days ago there were gale force winds and 40mm rains.

We were only there for 6 months and young and fit so managed quite well! We were out in the middle of nowhere, was such a brilliant time

In the ME now and we always get colds in summer - it's regularly over 45 in August and then walking into AC houses/shops which is always set to 18........

18 Jo? Our aircon is set at 25!!! That's quite a drop enough.

I just knew you were in Australia when I saw the thread title. I live in Melbourne, where much the same happens.

When I move from winter to summer wardrobe, I keep Heat Tech tops on standby. I went to festival before Christmas and had to take gloves and woolly hat, though by the next day it was all suntan lotion and strappy tops, in the sun at least. :o

Personally I love the random cold days in summer, I need a break from the sun, a day to go bushwalking etc. The fire fighters love them too!

Echt I was in Melbourne before Christmas and packed light clothes...and it was 12! Couldn't believe how cold it was for summer.

The week after was the heat wave.

We're in the Hunter Valley so in the past 10 days we've had flooding, a house a few houses over got struck by lightening, 43C, fog and 12C at night!!!

It's bizarre but never dull :D

It's ridiculous - I've given up putting my winter clothes away as we can can from wearing jeans and a jumper one day to vest tops and board shorts the next!

Yeah I keep winter stuff out. If it's been a hot clear day nights get cold.
