It's been a stinking 39 here at times today. We brought our Christmas Tree in it!

What's it's like where you are?

wasn't too bad think it was about 28 or so - but strong sun iykwim..... but we had dd1's sn kindy christmas party - so out in the heat 9.30 - 11am..... had to keep them in the shade. Dd1 had a fab time - dd2 screamed and cried when we tried to get her to go to santa and get her book.... dd1 said thank you to santa and shook his hand....

We also won a huge christmas hamper full of lots of nice goodies - all the things dh and I have sworn off - choc, crisps, etc etc.......

dds were let up early this morning whilst dh and I lazed in bed - realised at one stage they had been very quiet for a while... got up to find dd2 standing with the fridge door open.....choc all round her mouth and on her pjs, lots of foil wrapping from choccy santas on the floor - ham, sauce, onion and a tomato on the bench.. tried so hard to not laugh whilst having words with her!!

Did you get a real one??? tree that is??

we have a tiny one as we figured we needed to keep it away from babies but I think I might venture out after christmas and try and get a big one in the chrissy clearance for next year. Have lovely ornaments I collected from around the place and want to start buying the dds each an ornament each year to start a tradition.....

They do say only mad dogs and englishmen go out in the midday sun

hope you had a cooler day today. Still about 30ish tonight at 7pm.

Sounds like your dds had fun...especially dd2 in the morning!! I remember catching dd with choc around her face last year & she insisted that the dog had unwrapped & eaten the chocs off the tree...very very hard not to laugh!

We opted for a realy tree. Haven't had a real one for a while. DD went to get it, and came back with six footer! It's huge. I have tiny decorations (as we have only had small tress in the past) so the all look rather lost on my tree!

Today has been better, but heavy, iykwim. Now 23 (7.30) so not too bad.

oh - I got some nice decorations from BigW - beady swirly thing and some bells. Very reasonable too.

Our decs are large - too big for our tree - had a bigger tree in the UK. think we might venture a real tree - love the smell - just need a non drop one.

sandcastlesforanaussiexmas · 10/12/2006 09:39

I know what you mean about the non drop. This one is OK until you try to put decs on it. Then it's raining needles. But they are much bigger than the tiny needles you get on UK ones. The smell is Lurvely!!

We made some decs at playgroup that we have hung on the tree, but it still looks nakedish....off to shops tomorrow....watch this space!!

target has fab ones but they can be expensive at times for what they are. will look for your fab purchases.

sandcastlesforanaussiexmas · 10/12/2006 09:50

Well, I can get to BigW & Kmart quite easily...so will see what I can get!

Such hardship having to spend MORE money!!

kmart isn't so close for us so I have to stick with target and bigW although I quite like kmart.

sandcastlesforanaussiexmas · 10/12/2006 09:56

I need dh for Target shopping, as not accessable easily for me (not driving yet).

Kmart seemed to have some nice ones, we'll see.

It hit 42 degrees here in Melbourne city today. Very, very hot. Target's air con was broken so that was a bummer - I rely on these big stores to give me and DSs some break from the heat!

sandcastlesforanaussiexmas · 10/12/2006 10:21

sydneygirl, sympathies!!

We had to go out yesturday, but didn't stray far from the air con!
