So it will be used for making the rice crispie choc cakes for the playgroup Christmas party, instead of getting scoffed by me.......

The injustice!

Hershey's is NOT chocolate is it...

I'd have cried too!

mamama · 07/12/2006 02:56

The Dove/ Galaxy thing should be ok - they're both made by Mars (Master Foods). Hope so anyway

The Cadbury/ Hershey thing is different - Hershey's won the license to manufacture Cadbury's in the States but they make it the same way as other American chocolate, by first souring the milk. . (According to a friend who works for Cadbury's) Bleurgh

From the Hershey's website:

"Acquiring the license to manufacture... Cadbury products in the US, Hersheys has continued that fine artisan quality of chocolate making."

Have to disagree, I'm afraid. There is nothing 'quality' about making fake cadbury's chocolate

sandcastlesforanaussiexmas · 07/12/2006 03:02

mamama...i didn't realise Galaxy was masterfoods, thought it was nestle!!

Dare I ? Still gotta use it for the choc cakes tho, as I haven't got anything else!

2000milestoeidsvold · 07/12/2006 03:12

sandcastles - I use coles or nestle choc melts for things like that rather than eatcing choc iyswim and it tastes fine - no woolies home brand - yuk taste but the coles or nestle melts are fine.

mamama · 07/12/2006 03:15

I looked on their website to check - they have Dove here but I've never been brave enough to try it! You can't be to careful, can you? (Similar experience to CF)

Am sure it'll be great for cake.

I'm celebrating tonight as I found Maltesers today. Yipeeeeeeeeee. I've missed them so much. Thanks World Market, Boulder you've made my year.

mamama · 07/12/2006 03:27

Check the sell-by-date tho Ali - found some Penguins in World Market when I was PG & craving them but they were months out of date

Enjoy the malteasers - I just scoffed an imported Cadbury's Caramel. Yummy!

sandcastlesforanaussiexmas · 07/12/2006 03:27

it does actually taste very vry nice! that's why I HAVE to use it for the cakes!! I got 2 huge bars, on special!

Eidsvold, I usually use caburys in the UK as the cooking choc there is foul. Didn't think about using what you said, will look out for next time. As I say the Dovewas on special, so cheapest anyway!

alibauble · 07/12/2006 05:25

arfishyheauheauheau · 14/12/2006 02:37

Oooh! Hello. Only just seen this.

What was the final verdict? Should I nip to Woolies to taste test it?

You are a kind soul for remembering my need for edible chocolate.
