Some friends of ours are imminently moving to Perth & we'd love to get them some vouchers or something that they can use over there to buy themselves a house-warming present. I see there's an Ikea there - would they be able to use vouchers bought in a store over here? Any other shop recommendations?

I doubt it very much, as the IKEA vouchers used in the UK are going to be in £, not A$.

Try emailing IKEA Australia and see if you can get your friends a gift card
www.ikea.com/ms/en_AA/customer_service/ikea_services/gift_cards.html

or maybe try getting them a lovely Margaret River Wine gift delivered to them

Not sure about Perth ikea. It runs differently to nsw and qld.
How about a target voucher, bigw.. Or order them something nice for their new home from target or big w?? My mum does online ordering for Xmas etc. swing set for kids? Something they may not have thought of ??

As a Perth native, I would suggest a Coles Group and Myer gift card from:
www.giftcards.com.au/Coles-Group-Card.aspx

It's valid at Target and K-Mart for everyday items or Myer for the posher stuff.

Agree on the Myer gift card - you can buy online and it's like a big John Lewis, has everything you could need for homewares. Pricyness rating: ££

David Jones is a bit fancier but does similar stuff - £££

If you want something really fancy, there is a lovely posh food and kitchenware shop in a suburb called Subiaco called Simon Johnson.
£££££!

Cheaper homewares, more like Debenhams: Target/Kmart: £.

I'm sure you would be able to buy an IKEA gift card online, just make sure you're on the WA version of the site as prices are different across states.

When we moved to Perth my parents bought us a Myer gift card and it was great for grabbing cups, pizza trays, blenders etc. It's a lovely idea of yours.
