Hello, we will be moving to Denver around July/ August of this year as my husband has been offered a relocation deal.

I have a few questions!

Firstly schools. My DS is 6 and in year 2 (would be 3 come sept) at private school here and is working about a year ahead at the mo. What are US schools like and will they be working at an comparable level? I think he would be going into year 2 by the time we move. We are looking for a friendly, encouraging private school around Denver, any recommendations please?

Can anyone recommend areas? My OH will be working tech centre area so needs to be commutable for him and close to a good private school.

Also we have Border Collie dogs that would be coming with us, what is dog walking like in the area please?

Finally, will we be ok! Eeek its so nervewracking as I have never lived far from home and its such a huuuuge change- I haven't even visited there yet!

I have no advice at all.
I wish only to say that I am SO SO SO envious of you.
Denver is an absolutely fab place to live - and also to explore the mid-west. You are within half an hour of so much beautiful and historic countryside. The national parks! The Gold Rush history, the mountain, the mountains, the wildlife.

So much to do and to explore. Lucky lucky you. Good luck!

Go read up & ask questions on city-data.

It's a big city, I'm sure you can get whatever combo you want.

Thank you both!

It's lovely to hear some positives about Denver! Starting to get excited now Grin

Why do you want a private school? If you live in a nice area you will probably find the public schools are top notch.

Most municipal areas in the US have strict leash laws. Denver has wildlife that could be dangerous to dogs leashed or unleashed.

I once stopped at a Mexican restaurant there while on a road trip and watched a wrangler remove a rattlesnake from the car park. People were advised to stay in their cars while the operation took place.

It is gorgeous and such a short hop to the mountains.
