friend emigrated to Australia and is lonely

I have a friend who emigrated to Adelaide in Aus 4 weeks ago and she is sounding quite lonesome and a bit down. I was wondering if i could put her in touch with anyone or a local group to get her out and about and possibly in touch with fellow ex-pats. does anyone have any suggestions please as she has already threatened to buy air tickets back to UK ?

Have a look at the "Stats thread for those in or moving to Australia" which will tell you if there are any mumsnetters in Adelaide. I'm heading to Sydney so can't help I'm afraid - I think it's really early days, I'm sure things will get better for your friend.

Tell I know how she feels. I am yet to find a circle of friends and it can be daunting. Please ask to email me, Adelaide is a big area, but it may help just chatting/emailing to some one who has recently done it!

thanks Hauntedsandcastle, it may help her to talk to you as you know how she is feeling. she hasn't got computer and internet set up at home as yet so uses PC at the library. I will pass on your email address.
having taken 3 yrs to get there i don't actually think she would throw in the towel just yet.

glad you passed on my email. It does get lonley, but I hope she will give it a chance, it really is a great place to live. Will wait to hear from her.

That's Ok, not too much to do here now. We are out most of the days, so no bother.

I texted her today as no answer on the phone. I will try in the evening tomorrow.
