RFE and living in limbo. Process really getting me down!

In November we began the process of moving to the US as DH's company will be transferring him over there on an L1B visa. They paid for us to go over to Connecticut last month and I totally fell in love with the place. We have had a terrible terrible time of it in the UK the last few years and it feels like it could be a really lovely new start for all of us.

We're currently in limbo though, his layer got in touch to say that the USCIS have issued an RFE and now we're back waiting. We're fortunate that they have paid for premium processing so it won't be much longer (assuming they only issue one RFE) but I suppose I was a little naive to how complicated the whole process could be. I'm terrified our visas will be denied.

I just wanted a bit of a rant really. Living in limbo like this is really awful.

Does anyone have any reassurance about RFE's and subsequent approval. Or just some advice on living in limbo? I feel like I'm going insane.

Patience is a virtue Grin
I know nothing about RFE, but it took us four years to emigrate to Canada from application, with the knowledge that the critical point (acceptance of dd2 as a 'burden on the state' due to her disability) wouldn't even be hit until the last 3 months.

We are here. Relax. There is nothing you can do except fill in forms, tick boxes, and wait, so out the kettle on and carry on with life as it, whilst you dream of the future. Wink

Thank you Mad. I feel terrible for complaining about a few months wait when you waited so long!

Part of it is that I am currently pregnant so was hoping to get over before the baby was born but now because of this delay we won't be able to move until the summer which I'm quite Sad about. That's if the visas get approved at all.

I guess it's just the uncertainty I can't deal with. I have issues with anxiety and needing to feel in control and I have no control here whatsoever! it's just maddening!

Can I join you in limbo? We moved from Singapore, DP first and I had to finish a work project until Christmas. I moved back to the UK before Christmas and have been sat here since waiting on visas for SA.

I haven't even been able to lodge the application yet, so got even more of a wait. Driving me crazy not being able to put down roots, taking all this time out of work and seeing our savings slowly going down is so frustrating.

Also not enjoying having to live apart from DP for 7 months and counting. The control thing is the same for me, I hate feeling like I am having my life dictated to me.

The thing that is keeping me going is the thought that in X months time, this waiting will be a distant memory!

Good luck with everything, just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.

It's crap. I've done 10 moves and totally understand limbo. Our last move was supposed to be December, then Easter, then in June it actually happened. We've also done the "relocation-arrive-nope-we-need-you-elsewhere" thing with a 6 week turnaround in Dubai between Azerbaijan and Singapore - talk about unpacking and repacking in the same week....

Limbo sucks, but it makes the end result even better.

Hi OP just wanted to say hang in there! Limbo living absolutely sucks....I'm in month 16 of it, so far we were 'nearly' going to Russia, then Singapore, then Houston, then KL now maybe Singapore again.......we sold our family home in the UK thinking we wouldn't need it again and I'm now starting to think that was a mistake, I'm nearly at the point of going home on my own! Hearing other people's woeful limbo takes does help I think ??
