hi Morgan
In answer to your question, not yet. DH is currently negotiating a contract, big stumbling block is housing allowance. At the moment because it is so expensive we would be earning less even though its tax free. I'm really excited though. Havent told DS (age 11 year 6) yet as if it doesnt come off dont want him to be upset. However each time Dubai appears on TV or radio I making passing comments like ooh thats where x went on hols or do you remember x told us about the fab water park/camping/skiing etc. Hopefully if we make it, we can meet up?

Hi, it is a great place to live mainly - there are obviously disadvantages like anywhere, bad driving, busy roads, high rents, but i love the weather (now it is cooling down) and being outside and the beach, and we are off desert camping for the first time this weekend. Also such a huge choice of restaurants and places to go out. DS loves the snow park!

Starmummy - if you want to find anything out and don't know about it already use www.expatwoman.com - a great website with an info board so you can find anything out about Dubai. CAT me if you want to know anything and definitely if you move here

Hi Morgan and Inthepink

I'm very jealous of both of you. DH is still negotiating about the contract. Yawn yawn... It was delayed due to Ramadan and Eid, so I do understand but I'm so excited I want it all to happen yesterday. Still havent told Ds (age 11 year 6) although I am about to start with the well daddy might get a job in another country etc. Just to prepare him. I shall be questioning you both in great detail if and when everything is agreed, if thats ok? Hopefully see you soon!!!!

ps DS loves skiing and sailing, I really think they will be key to swinging everything in favour of Dubai.

Hi Morgan, we have been here just under 4 years, ds is 5 and in year 1. What about your ds?

Hi Starmummy, everything kinda comes to a standstill for Ramadam and Eid but should be back to normal (well normal for Dubai!!) now. Just ask away but as Morgan says the other website will be able to give you lots of info especially about rent allowances!! The price of things have really shot up especially the rent!!
