Four months in Granada

DP and I are planning to spend four months in Granada next winter, just for an adventure and to immerse ourselves in art, language, culture, food! I have learnt Spanish in the past and am taking classes now.
We'll rent a flat or house; looking online, many of them are in the Albaicin area, but are there other areas that would be nice to live in? We won't have a car. We are oldies and it will be just the two of us, plus occasional visitors.

Thanks AgentProvocateur - I have never been there! We're making a recce visit in a couple of weeks.

We are intending to do something similar, though not in Granada.

We used to live in Spain but came back 3 years ago for various reasons and do miss it, so this year went for the whole of April then again for all of October but it's not long enough. We are going again for April and this winter we plan to do a 3 month stint, Oct - Dec.

As you know Granada is at the foot of the Sierra Nevada so don't under estimate how cold it can get in winter (particularly at night). Skiing is possible and there is often snow on the Sierra's until late Spring. Rent somewhere with heating, especially if you land up staying inland. Don't think the metro system has opened yet but may be up & running by the time you go and this would obviously help if you are without a car. Cordoba is another cultural highlight and a perfect city for seeing on foot.

Granada is beautiful - I'm sure you'll enjoy your time there.

Fussychica, thank you - sorry, I only just saw this. We are going tomorrow for a recce visit. And will check out the cold! Yes definitely aiming to rent somewhere with good heating - all those tiled floors, eek!

Have a great time - I'm sure you'll love it. Think you'll be able to check out the cold - forecast says highs of 7 degrees and lows of -5 yikes! We are nipping over to the Costa del Sol for a week at the end of the month and I can't wait, whatever the weather.

You have a good time too!
