Maternity pay: Stuck between English and French System

Hello,
I hope someone can give me some advice on my situation:

I have been living in France for for 17 months, working on a UK contract. I am due to start on a French contract in December and I just found out that I am pregnant with my first child (Due in June).
Frustratingly, I didn’t realise until now that I could be registered with the French health system whilst working on a UK contract, so I haven’t yet, and it turns out to be eligible for French maternity benefits, I must be registered for 10 months prior to the due date.
It looks like I will not either be able to claim maternity allowance from the UK as I would have to have worked 26 weeks on a UK contract, which I will fall short of by 4 weeks.
Do I understand this correctly? Can anyone please advise me on if there is something that I can do. My partner is working, also on a UK contract and moving to a French one.
Many thanks in advance, Smile
Lucy
