Online shopping at UK shops while overseas for delivery in UK

NZ grandparents are wondering if they can order from the likes of Asda/M&S/Toys R Us (or anyone really) for us here in the UK.
Some sites like Next are a bit fussy about the delivery address matching the billing one but is everyone as particular?
I know I can order from some NZ shops from this end for my peeps down under but does anyone know if it works both ways anywhere?
Sick of silly postage charges and yes, we have discovered the marvellous Book Depository!
Thank you!

I think its the lack of a UK billing address that causes the majority of problems. Amazon are good at UK different addresses.
We have received the list of desired presents, and then bought them ourselves, and received a cheque for the cost from relatives abroad before. Of course that is dependant on you being able to afford to do that!

The only company that wanted a UK billing address that we have come across is Staples.

Our Asia billing address for UK delivery worked fine for WHSmith, Amazon, M&S, John Lewis, Tesco (I used Paypal for John Lewis).

As above, my Asia billing address works for most places online, the only problem I have run across is with Fat Face. Fine indeed with all those above plus Bravissimo, Figleaves, Long Tall Sally and Pepperberry.

Thanks, guys. I'll pass that on. Tesco would be a winner if they can sort it.

Sorry to hijack but can I ask what NZ shops you use? I have some NZ relies I need to get gifts for and am stumped By the cost of postage. Which seems to go up every year.

Floellabenjamin · 05/10/2014 14:23

Also how do you avoid them getting reciepts when ordering from uk companies?

Lifestooshorttosleep · 05/10/2014 14:27

Floellabenjamin, most online places have a "gift" option, which you can use to stop receipts or prices being printed. Some also offer gift wrap, at extra cost.

I've ordered groceries from Countdown and I think Stevens (gift shop), Farmers (dept. store) and The Warehouse (best shop in the world!) do it. Haven't managed to avoid them seeing the receipt though Hmm

Flo - if they are readers you can't go wrong with The Book Depository (free international postage). Books in NZ are very pricey and far more of a 'special gift' than here.

I used to order things from Amazon, Great Little Trading Company and the Book People etc for UK delivery while I was living in Asia. Most companies have a 'gift' option, don't they, so that things can be delivered to somewhere other than the billing address.

Floellabenjamin · 05/10/2014 15:01

Yes definitely going to use book depository this year thabks

OP - I can't buy from Asda for UK delivery with a French billing address. I assemble the shop online then get inlaws to log-in and pay. I then pay them back.
