Anyone in Frankfurt?

I lived on the Zeil many years ago but without DCs at the time. So my questions are about nice areas to live and schools.

DH will work in Niederrad and favours Kronberg for living but I wouldn't mind being slightly more urban. Any recommendations?

Can anyone shed light on international/bilingual english-german schools? DDs are currently in third grade of an IB school.

I have some information about towns in that area - not sure whether they're more urban than Kronberg, but I'll PM you.

I would look at sachsenhausen for somewhere more urban if your DH will be working in Niederrad. Will he be using public transport to commute? It also depends on whether you want a house or would be happy with a flat and your budget. There is a huge difference in rent in somewhere like Kronberg and say Nied/Griesheim which would also be quick commute.

Re schools there is FIS in Oberursel (which is a nice, small town but not what I would call urban), Acadis in Bad Homburg (lovely town) and the European school in Preungesheim. My DD is only 2 so I don't have any personal experience of them but have a look in toytown there is lots of info on schools there.

When will you be moving?

thanks Linzer and Welsh! DH will start on 1 October and be coming home on the weekends until 1 January which is when I and the DDs will move. so I have a bit of time to research the schools.

The thing I am most worried about is plane noise in terms of places to live as we are very spoilt with complete tranquility where we are now.

In that case forget Sachsenhausen! You'd be better off looking at Northern areas of the city like Dornbusch, Eschersheim maybe Eckenheim or suburbs like Bad Homburg. I've lived here for 15 years so happy to try and help if you have any specific questions.
